Detailed description

This process was developed to address the issue of negative-pressure water loss during conventional hydraulic sand-washing operations in oil wells with negative-pressure reservoirs. To tackle this challenge, an integrated research initiative on combined sand-washing and retrieval operations has been proposed. The technology works as follows: The sand-washing and retrieval tubing string is first lowered into the well and conventional hydraulic sand-washing procedures are initiated. If the return flow at the outlet is found to be lower than the pump-in volume, the pump is immediately stopped, and the operation switches seamlessly to the sand-retrieval phase. This approach significantly enhances both operational efficiency and sand-cleaning effectiveness. By doing so, the method effectively reduces labor costs associated with well operations, leading to improved cost-effectiveness and overall productivity. To achieve this, an integrated design concept was applied to develop the innovative combined sand-washing and retrieval technology.
